Celebrating 75 Years of revealing Queensland Histories
May 3, 2025, 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Come and learn about the stories of pioneering women and their families at Miegunyah House Museum. The house is owned by the Queensland Women's Historical Association and is dedicated to the pioneer women of Queensland. This elegant Queenslander is on its original block and has been lovingly restored by QWHA to mostly its original appearance. It is furnished with many items belonging to Queensland’s pioneer families.
QWHA celebrates 75 years of collecting, researching and displaying stories about the pioneer families and their lives. Learn about the women who lead the association and the projects which lead to the accumulation of 15,000 items related to the Victorian era. Be guided through Miegunyah and hear about the Plaque project of the 1960’s, how the house was purchased, and the restoration to the beautiful building of today.
Children are encouraged to look at the items in the house by completing a Scavenger Hunt.
On Sundays, you may be fortunate to view members working on the restoration of the Kent quilt, one of the oldest quilts in Queensland.
