St Marys Church Museum Special Opening
May 13, 2021, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
St Marys Church has a long association with Maryborough, with the first Church opening in 1872. The present Heritage Listed Church has many intact historic features including stained glass leadlight windows, vaulted ceiling and pipe organ. The Church established a museum in 1991 in the building which is being opened for the Heritage Festival.
The museum holds a wealth of historical information about Catholicism in Maryborough dating back to the formation of the Church here in the early years of Queensland after separation from New South Wales. Our first Parish Priest was Fr. Paul Tissot who arrived in Maryborough from France to guide the Parishioners. The collections on display include sacred vessels, statuary and other object of religious importance.
Street parking available.
