Styles and Stories Architecture Tour
May 16, 2021, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Present day Toowoomba is built onto the bones of a gracious Victorian era city. Look carefully and the city’s historic past comes to life. Join local Heritage Architect Stephanie Keays from Toowoomba Trails, on this walk through the CBD to get a fascinating glimpse into Toowoomba’s architecture and history.
Starting at the Empire Theatre visitors will be guided through Toowoomba’s rich architectural legacy incorporating a mix of church, public, commercial and theatre buildings. Explore a range of building styles and the design details that make them unique to our town with a mix of history, street art, cafes, shops and stories along the way.
The tour ends with a glass of wine at the Waltons Stores precinct, a fine example of adaptive reuse of heritage buildings and the spaces between them.
This is a walking tour, so please wear appropriate footwear and clothes to suit the weather conditions on the day. Please arrive 5 minutes early to ensure the tour starts on time.
