In the 1960s, the National Trust planted a memorial avenue of trees at Wolston Farmhouse to honour Karl Langer, a renowned architect. At the time, visitors were invited to sponsor a tree, helping to bring this special tribute to life.
We’re now delighted to revive this meaningful tradition by restoring the Avenue of Trees. By donating to gift a tree, you’ll help continue this living memorial — ensuring the avenue is renewed and protected for generations to come.
Karl Langer played a vital role in shaping Queensland’s heritage movement. As an early member of the National Trust of Queensland, which he joined in its founding year, 1964, he was both a visionary modernist and a passionate advocate for conservation. Langer contributed to the Trust’s first property acquisition in 1965 — the historic Wolston House, a stone farmhouse built in 1852 that remains one of Brisbane’s most treasured heritage sites.
