Trust Tours - Government House & Fernberg Estate Tour

Mar 4, 2026, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

By popular demand, Experience the Trust with Trust Talks returns to Government House for a relaxed Government House & Fernberg Estate Tour.

Step inside Government House and the Fernberg Estate, one of Brisbane’s earliest homes, built in 1865 by merchant Johann Heussler. Since 1910, Fernberg has been the official residence and workplace of Queensland Governors, playing a central role in the state’s history.

Explore the estate’s beautifully designed interiors, featuring elegant architecture, artwork, and curated collection pieces, before stepping outside into the heritage-listed gardens and grounds. The estate spans 10 hectares, combining remnant bushland with formal gardens, a small vegetable patch, and sustainable habitats supporting native animals and flora. These outdoor spaces provide a stunning backdrop to Government House and have supported official functions for more than a century.

Guests will enjoy a guided tour led by the experts and a member of the Government House Horticultural Team, followed by a light morning tea and a brief meet-and-greet with Her Excellency, the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Patron of the National Trust Queensland, making this an exclusive and memorable experience.
